We may well wonder.  Not every one gets to take a spring break.  This basically comes from the educational system.  Teachers and pupils get a week off to rest, relax, and recharge the batteries for the remainder of the school year which is usually quite full and hectic.  I think, however, the idea is a good one.  A break is good from time to time.  Not everyone gets to take one, but it would be a good idea.  Spring is a good time to take one because of the warming up of the temperatures, the breaking out into bloom of flowers, trees, grass, etc.  People like to be out of doors just taking everything in during spring. 

The poets and song writers for eons have extolled spring as a wondrous time for lovers of all ages, but especially for young lovers.  Just as many of them are ripening and blossoming as young men and young women for the first time, so they are experiencing that wonderful thing we call love--for the first time. 

Spring break provides a wonderful time to go to Florida or to Arizona to attend Major League Baseball spring training baseball games.  I can tell you, that is fun for someone who likes baseball.  Others who don't necessarily like baseball can attend golf matches or tennis matches in the warmer out of doors.  Still others would rather go to the beach.  Need I remind you what happens on Florida's beaches at spring break?  Have you ever tried to go to Daytona, New Smyrna, Miami, Pensacola, or other   known Florida beaches during this time?  The kids are so thick that you cannot stir them with a stick.

Spring time at Alta Woods Baptist Church means, also, a spring revival.  We have done this for many years, and it works.  If you define revival as a time of refreshment, renewal for the church, then that usually happens here.  The Lord blesses our guest speaker and guest musician with His messages and songs, and we have a wonderful time.  We are preparing for another one of these "spring breaks" next week.  I need this break more than most this year.  After a hard fall and difficult winter season, the winds of the spirit blow fresh during the spring and especially in a revival held during the spring.

So, yes.  I believe in spring break for a lot of reasons.  How about you?  Do you need a break of some kind this spring?  Maybe a little trip to a state park, the mountains, the beach, a baseball game, a family reunion, or a revival service might offer what you need.  Let the fresh winds of change and of the Spirit of God bless your life this spring.
