What a terrible subject, right? No one ever wants to talk about a diet, but we all have one. What we eat is our diet. Now, if a person wants to gain weight, he/she will go onto a special weight gaining diet. Most of us, however, find it necessary from time to time to go on a weight loss diet.
Losing weight is important, but so is another kind of process which is the process of eliminating toxins from our bodies. Most of us haven't a clue as to the toxins we take into our bodies from what we eat. At least, that's what the author Rubin of the popular book, THE MAKER'S DIET, says.
Rubin, a Jewish man, takes the readers back to the Old Testament and the book of Leviticus to the definitions of clean and unclean foods. The definition of clean and unclean meat is this: If an animal divides the hoof and is cloven hoofed and if the animal also chews the cud, then its meat is clean and okay to eat. You may have known that already, but do you know why that is? Rubin tells you.
The same process occurs for foods from the waters. A creature from the waters is clean if it has fins and scales. Any other creature from the waters is considered unclean, and you should not eat its meat. The same is true for animals in the sky. Some are clean and others are unclean.
Basically for all the categories, animals, sea creatues, and sky creatures, as well as creeping creatures, those who are scavengers are the ones we need to avoid eating. Their meat is unclean, and we will only be adding toxins to our bodies if we eat them.
This is the way Rubin's book begins. I am working through it myself, and some members of our staff are doing the same thing. We need to eat well so that our bodies may be healthy and strong. We need to watch the amount of food we eat. Most of us eat too much and exercise too little.
The premise of the book is that if we could return to the lifestyle of more primitive peoples, who ate cleaner foods, less of them, and who were more physically active, we might find that we were healthier today.
