| God
promises that if you'll draw near to Him, He'll draw near to you.
It doesn't matter where you are in your Christian growth; all that
matters is your sincere desire to experience a closer personal relationship
with the Living God.
Listen for
a moment to the world around you. Do you hear a television? Can
you hear people talking, kids playing, dogs barking? Most of us
live with so much background noise we don't realize how distracting
it is. To really experience God's fellowship and come to know Him,
you need quiet time for just you and God.
Some people
set aside time in the early morning hours, some prefer the evening.
The time you spend alone with God depends on you, your situation
(and personal preferences) and your desire to know Him. To give
you an idea, here's what I personally
do.
Here are the
key ingredients to a closer walk with God:
1. Daily
Bible study
2. Devotional study
3. Prayer
4. Quiet reflection
on His Word
5. Learning to listen
to His voice
We've gathered
some excellent links to devotional sites to help you. You'll find
those here.
Make a commitment
today to start with 15 minutes each day reading, praying and thinking
quietly about what you've read and how it spoke to your heart. As
your walk deepens, spend more time alone with Him. Develop a schedule
with God.
I would also
suggest you consider a prayer partner. Someone you can share with,
pray with, and grow together will help deepen your walk with God.
Please take
advantage of the sites and resources we've assembled for you here.
If you'd like to talk further about your spiritual growth and your
walk with God, I'm as close as an email
or a phone call. I would love to visit with you about your spiritual
growth and share my love of God with you.
