Worship

The music ministry of Alta Woods strives diligently to proclaim Jesus Christ, inspire faithfulness, and glorify God in everything we do. You’ll find a blend of hymns and choruses in our congregational singing and both traditional and contemporary sounds in special musical offerings.

Choral

Chancel Choir (Youth – Adult) Wednesdays, 6:00– 7:30 pm

Open to anyone called to serve God through the musical gifts He has given, Chancel Choir is the principal service choir for Sunday morning worship and core of special event choirs. Join us weekly for a rewarding time of musical preparation and celebration of God’s presence in our lives.

JOY Singers (Golden Years) Tuesdays, 10:45 –11:45 am

This on-the-go group welcomes anyone with a passion for sharing the love of Jesus. Singing monthly at senior care facilities, an annual state choral festival, and presenting music in worship from time to time are major components of this ministry. Opportunities abound for fellowship, ministry, and just plain fun as the Lord provides more and more ways to share our faith through music. It's never too late to be a musician for the Lord!

Instrumental

Do you play keyboards? How about violin, clarinet, trumpet, or even handbells? You’ll find a place at Alta Woods for instrumentalists of all levels and abilities committed to using their talent for the glory of God.

Keyboards

The pipe organ and piano provide the foundation of instrumental music at Alta Woods. We are blessed by the capable and skilled contributions of these staff instrumentalists.

Orchestra (Youth – Adult) Wednesdays, 6:00–7:00 pm

This ensemble plays each Sunday for morning worship, as well as for special events throughout the year. Repertoire includes a variety of music from classical to contemporary.

Lyrique Bells (Youth – Adult) Sundays, 6:00–7:00 pm

Handbell Practice

This non-auditioned English handbell ensemble seeks to praise the Lord through satisfying and challenging literature shared periodically throughout the year.

Special Events

Adoration and Praise

Each spring, we journey with Jesus to the cross through a musical presentation that allows Him to make His presence and love known to us on a more intimate level. The celebration of His power and majesty on resurrection Sunday is an annual highlight.

Summer Concerts of Praise

On designated Sunday evenings in June, July, and August the Alta Woods family enjoys special musical offerings by guest vocalists or instrumentalists. Each occasion is followed by a church-wide gathering where the food and fellowship is the best anywhere.

Christmas Celebration

The celebration of Jesus’ birth is a time of great joy and anticipation. Following a 25-year indoor singing Christmas tree tradition, Alta Woods now offers A Season of Wonderto its greater Jackson family and friends. The combination of inspiring and worshipful music, plus exquisite lighting and visuals truly capture the essence of the Christmas season.
