    The new year begins in the season of winter.  In many places in the USA, winter is a kind of bleak time with not a lot going on because of the inability to be outside doing much.  That is not as true in the South, and here in Mississippi, the new year has begun with two days of brilliant sunshine.  Maybe that will be a harbinger of things to come.

    Welcome to our website at Alta Woods Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi.  If you live in another part of our country, perhaps you have strayed onto our site by accident.  Or maybe you just found us.  Perhaps it wasn't by accident at all.

    How are you beginning your year?  Are you and your family well and whole?  Are there problems?  Maybe you are looking for some help, some answers to some big questions and problems in your life.  The Lord may be that answer.  Do you know how to get in touch with Him?  If not, you may want to contact one of us whose email addresses are available on this web site.  We will respond right away and begin a conversation with you in hopes that we can point you in the right direction to get right with the Lord.

    Just as no season in the year is so bleak as not to be followed by another much brighter, such as spring, so no condition of life is so bleak that the promise of new life in Jesus Christ cannot give you hope.  If you are looking for this hope, then my prayer for you is that you may find it in 2012.  If we can help in any way, then please let us know.
